Sunday Greetings

We are still smiling from ear to ear after welcoming more than 300 visitors to Greenwood this past Friday for our Grandparents Luncheon! Seeing our students share their school with the people who mean so much to them was incredibly special. Thank you to every grandparent, family member, volunteer, and staff member who helped make the day such a memorable celebration of family, connection, and community.

This Week's Big 3

1️⃣ Back to School Night – Thursday, September 17
We cannot wait to welcome our families back into the building for an exciting evening of learning, connection, SINGO, and more!

2️⃣ House Week Begins!
Our youngest Gators will officially begin their House journey this week as we continue building 5 Houses, 1 Family. Get ready for House spirit, leadership, and plenty of excitement!

3️⃣ Spilling the Tea with Mr. Stein - Click Here for the Recording
Did you miss our latest Spilling the Tea with Mr. Stein? Click the recording to catch up on important school updates, upcoming events, our new math curriculum, Back to School Night, recess needs, and much more. We packed a lot into this one!

PTA Teacher’s Lounge Makeover
Our Greenwood staff would like to give a huge thank-you to Mrs. Lawson and our incredible PTA for completely transforming our Teacher’s Lounge! From new seating and a refrigerator to beautiful wall art and so much more, this space has been given an amazing makeover. Our Teacher’s Lounge is a valuable space for our staff to recharge and connect throughout the day, and we are incredibly grateful for the time, generosity, and support that made this transformation possible. Thank you for taking such great care of our Greenwood team!

Gifted Open House information

Is your child a creative thinker, deep questioner, or problem solver? Join the Gifted Education Department on September 17th at 6:00 PM for a quick Back to School Night info session! We’ll dive into the key characteristics of gifted learners, share important identification window dates, and walk you through the screening process for Language Arts, Math, or both. Come learn how we support and challenge our advanced thinkers!

Leave It at Home

Students should leave toys, plushies, Pokémon cards, trading cards, collectibles, and other personal items at home. These items can easily become distractions or get lost during the school day. Thank you for helping us keep students focused on learning and helping us avoid disappointment when special items are misplaced.

Morning Clubs - Click here for MORE details
We still have some spots available for our dance team and school play! Click here to view the club offerings and sign up.

Bike Rack
We are in the process of ordering a bike rack for our morning bike riders to safely lock up their bikes each day. More details are coming soon!

Recess Needs

We are looking for donations of sports equipment that can be used outside on the playground. If you are cleaning out the garage, we would gladly take soccer balls, basketballs, tennis balls, footballs, kickballs, and other gently used equipment that can help keep our Gators active during recess!

School Wide Communication
We are doing our best to limit schoolwide communication to one message from teachers on Fridays and one message from the school on Sundays. We do not want to overwhelm our families with ParentSquare messages, and we hope that creating a more predictable communication schedule makes it easier for families to stay informed and connected.

Parent Lunch Table

Parents are welcome to join their child at the designated parent table outside the cafeteria. To keep this experience special and manageable for everyone, students may not bring friends to the parent table. Thank you as well for ensuring that your child and any younger siblings are not using a device while visiting during lunch.

Final Thought

Every week, we are reminded that Greenwood is at its best when we come together. Our students, families, staff, and community each bring something unique to our school, and together, those individual strengths become The Power of Us. Thank you for continuing to rise by uplifting others and for helping us show our Gators every day that they are part of something bigger than themselves.
