Thank you for your partnership in staying engaged with your student's progress through PowerSchool and celebrating their successes on the RCA app. If you don't yet have access to these platforms, please reach out to your child's teacher as soon as possible.
Sunday, October 13 - Taji Chant Deadline
Tonight is the deadline to submit your House Taji chant videos to Mrs. Melton kamelton@henrico.k12.va.us. These videos earn your child 1 house point and will be featured on our morning announcements.

Candy Collection Continues
Thank you for all the candy donations this week for our Trunk or Treat on October 25! The house that collects the most candy will earn 10 house points so let's make this competition extra sweet! Keep those treats coming!

Wednesday, October 16 - House Advisory Committee Select
Our 1st – 5th grade classrooms will each select one student to represent them at our House Advisory Meeting, held once per quarter. This committee will provide valuable student feedback on how we can improve our house system, promote upcoming events, and strengthen school culture. After each meeting, committee members will report back to their classrooms, giving them a great leadership opportunity to enhance their durable skills like communication, responsibility, and teamwork. Our first meeting will be on October 29 in the library from 7:15 – 7:45 AM.
Friday, October 18 Leaders League: Taji House Breakfast, Unity Day
Everyone should wear purple to show support for House Taji! During lunch, students will compete in a House Chant-Off, and during recess, they will participate in exciting pep rally games with our administrators outside! Tons of house points are up for grabs, so bring your spirit and energy!
If you're a member of House Taji, get ready to enjoy a special House Breakfast from 7:15 – 7:55 AM in the gym. Parents, grandparents, and alumni are all encouraged to join their Leader for this memorable event.
Friday, October 18 - PTA Spirit Night at Chuck E Cheese!
Join us Friday for our PTA Spirit Night at Chuck E Cheese! (9030 West Broad Street). Be sure to mention Greenwood when making purchases for tickets, food and games, as a portion of proceeds will go to our school! Bring out the entire family, anytime between 4-7pm for an evening of laughter and lots of Gator community fun!
2024 Unity Drive House Challenge ($14,528 raised out of $35,000)
We're thrilled to kick off an exciting house challenge this week as part of our Unity Drive fundraiser!
Here's what's at stake:
Each house that raises $4,000 will get the chance to pie Mr. Stein AND a staff member from their house on the morning announcements.
If our school reaches a total of $20,000 by Friday, October 18, every student will enjoy a special purple treat during lunch, including purple fruit juice and a purple food item! Plus, Mr. Stein will wear a costume and rollerskate throughout the day to show we're rolling with the fundraiser!
The top 10 fundraisers will have the chance to crack an egg on Mr. Stein's head during Friday's dismissal!

Tuesday, October 22: End of Q1 Morning Clubs
Our last day of morning clubs for Quarter 1! We encourage all our Gators to take a moment to thank their volunteer club facilitators for a wonderful experience this season.
Wednesday, October 23: The Big Day & Student Half Day
We’re kicking the day off with House Happenings where each class will get with their Buddy Class from 8:00 – 8:45 AM for a fun activity. From 8:45 – 9:45 AM, we’ll hold our first House Rally of the school year, featuring exciting chant-offs and dance routines as students compete to earn big house points! From 9:45 – 10:45 AM, 2nd to 5th graders with 5 or fewer X’s on their green folders will enjoy a mini field day called House Achievement. Dismissal for the half day will begin at 11:00 AM.
Our Advanced Dance Team will also hold a Boot Camp from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM to prepare for their special Q1 performance.
Thursday, October 24: Family Salsa Morning
Join us in the gym from 7:15 – 7:45 AM for Family Salsa! All family members—parents, aunts, uncles, grandparents—are invited to start the day with purpose by learning how to salsa dance with their Greenwood student. Let’s get moving together!
Friday, October 25: House Celebration & Fall Festival
We’ll start the day with a House Celebration in the gym for the house with the most points. Expect loud music, chanting, dancing, high fives, and a ton of fun!
Later, join us for our 9th Annual Fall Festival and Trunk or Treat from 5:30 – 6:30 PM in the bus loop. All students are invited to grab some candy and enjoy the fun! At 6:30 PM, the Dance Team and Advanced Dance Team will lead a special Halloween performance before we head into the gym for Movie Night, featuring Inside Out 2 from 7:00 – 8:30 PM. We need volunteers for parking lot control, setup, decorations, and clean-up. Every little bit helps, and we can’t do it without you! Sign up here to be a part of the fun!
There will be a short PTA meeting before we kick off the day’s festivities.
