Day 3

Thank you, parents, for your flexibility and understanding regarding the implementation of our Day 1-5 LAMPS schedule. In previous years, many classrooms missed several LAMPS days due to frequent Monday holidays and half-days on Fridays. This change ensures that all students can participate in the same incredible projects throughout the year for their grade level. Our teachers recommended this adjustment, and we fully support it because it enhances the learning experience for our students. We believe this is the best approach for our kids and their growth in these classes.

Preschool and kindergarten students will learn about each house during House Week. The big reveal is on Thursday, September 12, at 5:00 PM in your child’s classroom. CLICK HERE for the Greenwood House System Handbook.

Safety Update
I wanted to reassure our community that safety remains our top priority at Greenwood. In the past three years, we have implemented major safety enhancements, including weapons scanners, a vestibule outside the main office, door alarms throughout the building, walkie-talkies for every staff member, and a School Safety Officer (SSO). We are excited to welcome a second SSO, who will start working at Greenwood before the end of the week. We practice safety drills regularly and have a dedicated safety team that meets monthly. Additionally, our entire faculty discusses different safety scenarios each month to ensure we are prepared for any situation. We also host monthly virtual meetings with Mr. Stein to address any safety concerns. We have many prevention programs and counseling groups as proactive measures to support our students and families. Furthermore, we have a visitor management system to track all visitors entering the school and a security camera system. We are very grateful for Henrico County Public Schools’ dedicated focus on safety. Safety is something we take very seriously.
