Welcome to the Greenwood Elementary School community! We are excited to welcome all of our new families to The Power of Us!
Please note that we will not be hosting an in-person New Family Orientation. Instead, we will host a virtual session on Wednesday, August 19 at 6:00 PM. By making this session virtual, we can ensure that all of our new families have access to the same important information and can participate from wherever they are.
Our Open House on Thursday, August 20 from 9:00 AM–12:00 PM will NOT cover everything discussed during Wednesday night's orientation. Open House is designed for families to drop off school supplies, meet the teacher, tour the building, and get comfortable with Greenwood before the first day of school. The virtual orientation will focus on the important information and procedures that help families understand The Greenwood Experience.
During our New Family Orientation, we will cover:
PTA & Family Partnership — Meet our wonderful PTA and learn how you can become an active part of the Greenwood community.
The Greenwood Experience — What makes Greenwood special and what families can expect throughout the year.
Arrival & Dismissal — How bus transportation, car drop-off, and dismissal work, including the procedures we have in place to keep every student safe.
Cafeteria & Lunch — What students can expect during breakfast and lunch, including some of our important cafeteria routines.
PK & Kindergarten Tips — Helpful information to prepare our youngest Gators for Day 1.
Attendance Matters — Daily attendance expectations and why being at school every day matters.
The Power of Us & House System — An exciting introduction to our Ron Clark Academy-inspired House System: Gratos, Taji, Tatonka, Sol, and Kula. We will explain how students earn House Points, how House shirts work, and how we celebrate our Houses throughout the year.
Communication Tools — We will walk families through ParentSquare, PowerSchool, and the RCA App and explain how these tools will help you stay connected to Greenwood.
Ready for Day 1 — We will review the essential checklist items families should complete before the first day of school.
Our goal is simple: we want every new family to feel informed, prepared, and connected before their child walks through our doors.
