Greenwood Families,
We don’t do countdowns at Greenwood. We value every minute we get with your students, and we look forward to another exciting week filled with academic excellence, strong relationships, and meaningful learning experiences. To see highlights from classrooms, clubs, and school events, be sure to follow Greenwood Elementary on social media each week. Also, please continue to read your child’s teacher’s Friday communication closely as we close out the third quarter this week—there are many important updates and celebrations happening across our school community.
LAMPS Schedule
Attendance March Madness
Congratulations to the eight classes that advanced to the Elite 8 in our Attendance March Madness challenge! These classes were announced during Friday’s end-of-day announcements and earned their spot by having the lowest number of total absences during the previous round. As a reminder, the classes that advance to the Final Four will earn a pizza party, and the class that wins the championship will receive 300 tattoos to put on administrators—and possibly their teacher! Who will make it to the Final Four this week? Stay tuned!
Smart Watch Reminder
Students with smart watches will be asked to place them in their backpacks during the school day. HCPS policy prohibits cellphone use and texting throughout the school day. This expectation helps students remain focused on learning, reduces distractions, and protects valuable instructional time. Students who are using these devices during instruction will receive an “X” in the RCA app, and the device may be collected and held in the main office for a parent or guardian to retrieve. If your child needs to contact home during the school day for any reason, our main office is always available to assist, and families are encouraged to contact the office if they need to reach their child.
House Scoreboard
With only 4 days remaining, we want to share the current scoreboard for the 3rd marking period (January 15 – March 13). Thank you for continuing to monitor your child’s progress on the RCA app. Your child can also login to the RCA app on their computer by using Clever.
Gratos - 1744
Taji - 1721
Tatonka - 1691
Sol - 1629
Kula - 1621
Bus - ID and Lanyard Required
As a reminder, students must have their ID to board the bus. Last week, we had 14 bus referrals due to students not having their ID. Starting after Spring Break, students who receive a bus referral for not having their ID will begin receiving an “X” in the RCA app, which will impact participation in House Achievement.
Early Dismissal Reminder
Our teachers are actively teaching until 2:00 PM each day. Thank you for helping us protect the learning environment by limiting early dismissals whenever possible. Last week we had 26 early dismissals between 1:00–1:45 PM, which interrupts instruction. Every minute counts at Greenwood.

Be on the lookout for more details on how our students and teachers will celebrate the incredible families who support Greenwood each day. This week allows us to recognize the powerful partnership between school and home that helps our students succeed. When students see their families and school working together, it strengthens their sense of belonging and pride in our Greenwood community.
Monday, March 23 – House Advisory Meeting
Our student house leaders will meet in the library. If your child was selected for this leadership opportunity, regular attendance is expected. The purpose of this group is to strengthen and improve our house system by giving students a voice in school culture, leadership, and school spirit.
Tuesday, March 24 – Quarter 3 House Winner Celebration
We look forward to celebrating the house that earned the most points during the third marking period. Members of the winning house should report to their classroom and then the gym between 7:20–7:45 AM in their house attire. Expect music, dancing, chanting, and plenty of school spirit!
Tuesday, March 24 – Student vs. Staff Basketball Game
Our free annual Student vs. Staff Basketball Game will take place from 6:00–7:30 PM at Hungary Creek Middle School. All members of the Cheerleading Team, Bucket Drumline, and Step Team should be ready to perform. We encourage our Greenwood families to come out and cheer on our students and staff, but please note this is not a drop-off event—students must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Wednesday, March 25 - Q3 Academic Award Ceremony
We look forward to celebrating our students that have earned all A honor roll, A & B Honor Roll, B.U.G. Award (Bringing Up Grades), and Perfect Attendance. These classroom celebrations are important because they recognize students for their hard work and dedication while reinforcing the value of academic growth, responsibility, and perseverance. Celebrating achievements together also motivates students to continue striving for excellence. This celebration is closed to parents, but teachers will share photos in their Friday communication.
Friday, March 27 - College and Career Day, Touch a Truck
Our school counselors have planned a special experience for students to explore a wide variety of careers. Career Day helps students begin thinking about their future while connecting classroom learning to real-world opportunities. Events like this inspire students to dream big and understand the many paths available to them.
