Greenwood Families,

We are incredibly grateful for our community’s support last week. It was wonderful to see so many families attend our Parent-Teacher Conferences and our Daddy Daughter Dance. We will continue to create meaningful opportunities to open our school doors so our community feels connected and valued as part of our Greenwood family. Strong family engagement builds trust, strengthens relationships, and reinforces the sense of belonging our students need to thrive. When families and schools work together, students are more confident, motivated, and positioned for academic success. Thank you for continuing to partner with us and for investing in our shared mission to help every child shine.

Attendance & Punctuality Push
As we move into the second half of the marking period, consistent attendance and on-time arrival are critical. Even missing one or two days a month can impact academic progress, especially during intervention and small group instruction. Thank you for helping your child establish strong morning routines so they are present, prepared, and ready to learn each day.

Building Independence & Responsibility
Now is the perfect time to encourage students to take greater ownership of their learning. Simple habits like tracking assignments, packing backpacks the night before, and asking for help when needed build confidence and responsibility. These skills are essential as we prepare students for the expectations of the next grade level.

Social-Emotional Check-In
The middle of the school year can feel long, and students may experience academic or social fatigue. Take time to check in with your child about how they are feeling and celebrate their effort, growth, and perseverance. When students feel supported at home and at school, they are more likely to stay motivated and finish strong.

Parent Teacher Conference
This week, our administrative team will be reaching out to families of students receiving reading and/or math intervention to follow up on last week’s parent-teacher conferences and discuss how we can better support your child outside of the classroom.  Our end-of-year goals are ambitious:

  • 100% pass rate on the Virginia SOLs for our 3rd–5th graders

  • 100% of K–5 students meeting their stretch growth goal on iReady

We can only accomplish this through strong partnership and consistent collaboration between home and school. Thank you for working alongside us to support your child’s success.
