Welcome back, Gators—and Happy 2026! There is truly no place like Greenwood, and I could not be more excited to welcome our students and staff back to the building. Our teachers are energized, prepared, and ready to lead relentlessly as we continue pushing our students to maximize their potential, showcase their talents, and build strong character. 2026 is the year of the Greenwood Gators, and we are ready to make it our best year yet! Glow Report
This week, students will complete their Glow Report during morning announcements. This self-reflection will be sent home on January 16, 2026. We hope the Glow Report helps guide meaningful discussions at home about student progress and the action steps needed to meet end-of-year academic goals.
Safety Drills
During the month of January, students will participate in both a lock-and-hide drill and a fire drill. These drills help ensure that students and staff are familiar with safety procedures and know how to respond appropriately.
Sunday, January 4: Virtual House Bingo
We’re kicking off the return to school with an exciting game of Virtual House Bingo at 7:00 PM! This is a fun way to get our Gators excited to come back—and to WIN house points. Students will need to access the chat to participate. CLICK HERE to join the fun!
Monday, January 5 - Schools Reopen
If we have ZERO tardies, Mr. Stein will shave his head before dismissal! Let’s start 2026 strong and on time!
Monday, January 5 - Keva Plank Challenge
During 2nd–5th grade lunches, students may participate in a one-minute KEVA Plank building challenge in the hallway. Top competitors will earn an invitation to a countywide competition.
Friday, January 9 - Reading Award Ceremony
Join us at 7:20 AM in the gym as we celebrate students who have demonstrated a love for reading and writing.
Friday, January 9 - Spilling the Tea with Mr. Stein
This coffee chat will be a deeper discussion about our Win the Morning philosophy and share our list of 3rd quarter clubs, 2026 school wide goals, end of the year testing updates, teacher planning, and more!

Tuesday, January 13 - House Advisory Meeting
House Advisory members will stay after school until 3:30 PM to pack and deliver items for Taji Unity Day. Students will need a note to attend.
Wednesday, January 14 – Leaders League: Taji Unity Day & Breakfast, House Happenings, Q2 Club Performances
Get your purple ready! All members of House Taji are invited to attend a free breakfast with their housemates from 7:15 - 7:50 AM. We will then have our end of the quarter pep rally loaded with many performances from our Q2 morning clubs. Students will then meet with their buddy classes to complete a special activity based on accountability.
Wednesday, January 14 - READtoRUN Kickoff
Our 5th graders will begin year four of our READtoRUN partnership with Tony Curtis. More details will be shared soon by Mrs. Foster, our Reading Coach.
Wednesday, January 14 - Student Half-Day
We will begin our dismissal at 11:05 AM.
Thursday, January 15 – House Advisory Meeting
House Advisory members will meet in the library from 7:20–7:45 AM to reflect and plan improvements for Quarter 3. Attendance is required to remain in this leadership role.
Friday, January 16 – Rock the 90s – 5th Grade Performance @ 8 AM
Join us at 8:00 AM in the gym as we celebrate our 5th graders in their final music performance before graduation. Parents are welcome!
Sunday, January 18 – Q3 Morning Club Registration
Club registration opens at 6:00 PM. Be ready—clubs fill quickly! Club lists will be shared next week on social media.
Monday, January 19 – Schools Closed – Martin Luther King Jr. Day
