PowerSchool – Stay Connected to Your Child’s Progress
If you can find time to check social media, we encourage you to also take a few minutes to log into the Parent Portal to review your child’s grades and progress. The portal is easily accessible on your mobile device, so you can stay up to date anytime. Please don’t wait for a teacher’s call or email—stay informed and connected to your child’s learning journey. We truly appreciate your partnership at home and school as we work together to support your child’s success. One Team, One Dream!
September 19 – Interim Reports Sent Home
Students in grades 2–5 who have a D or F in any subject, or students in grade 1 who receive a 1 or 2, will bring home a mid-quarter interim report. These reports must be completed by a parent, signed, and returned by September 26. Each report will also include a parent section to set a goal and action step to help your child finish the first marking period on a strong note.

Get ready for the ultimate music adventure! School of Pop is no ordinary school—it’s where the world’s biggest stars like Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Ariana Grande, Ed Sheeran, Justin Bieber, Adele, and Bruno Mars got their start. Now, four new students are competing for a scholarship to join this legendary school and chase their dreams of becoming the next pop sensation. Packed with hit songs, high-energy performances, and plenty of laughs, this play will have you singing, dancing, and cheering the whole way through. Whether you’re on stage or behind the scenes, this is your chance to shine like a superstar. Are you ready to step into the spotlight?
Retake Procedure
If a student in grades 2–5 scores below 70% on a test, they will bring home a blank copy to redo. Students may use their notes and seek help while completing corrections. All corrections must be signed by a parent/guardian and returned within one week. If corrections are not returned, the original grade will be recorded in the gradebook. Once corrections are submitted, students will complete an additional teacher-selected assignment. This may include retaking the test, completing a shortened version, or completing a project. The two scores will then be averaged, with a maximum replacement grade of 70%.
Example: If a student earns a 40% on the test and then scores a 90% on the additional assignment, the recorded grade will be a 65%.
5th Grade Convocation – October 10
We are excited to host our first-ever Convocation on October 10 from 8:15–8:45 AM in the gym. Parents are welcome to join. The purpose is to inspire students about their final year at Greenwood and encourage them to leave a lasting legacy. The students will be dressed in robes! Our keynote speaker is Dr. John Marshall, the principal at Freeman High School with Henrico County Public Schools. This special event will kick off a year full of leadership opportunities and memorable experiences for our 5th graders. We look forward to celebrating this milestone together as a school community.
