Sunday Greetings!
We’re excited to welcome our Gators back for a full week of learning! Our teachers are diving deeper into instruction and using data to guide small groups and personalized support. Thank you for making sure your child is at school every day and on time—consistent attendance is essential to helping students reach their academic goals.

Day 1 - 5 Schedule (1st - 5th Grade)

Sept. 8 - Sept. 12

Day 4

Day 5

Day 1

Day 2

Day 3

Transportation Changes
All transportation changes must be made before 12:00 PM daily. Changes will not be accepted after this time. Please email both Mrs. Christina and Mrs. Jae in the main office, as well as your child’s teacher, when making a change.

Friday Teacher Communication
Thank you for reading your child’s Friday communication each week to help them prepare for the week ahead. Our teachers appreciate when families click “appreciate” or leave a positive comment—it lets them know their time and effort are valued. We will continue monitoring engagement data to ensure we’re using the most effective way to share information.

Homework Reminder
Homework is an important part of the learning process at Greenwood. If a student misses 3 assignments, they will receive an X on their Daily Report. Three X’s for missing homework will result in a Discipline Referral with further consequences. Homework provides students with valuable practice and reinforces classroom learning, helping them master skills and achieve academic success.

Retake Reminder (Shared at Spilling the Tea on September 5)
If a student in 2nd - 5th grade scores below 70%, they will bring home a blank copy of the test to redo. Students may use notes and seek help while completing corrections. Corrections must be signed and returned within 1 week. If not, the original grade will be entered in the gradebook. Once corrections are returned, students will complete an additional teacher-selected assignment (this may include retaking the test, completing a shorter version, or a project). The two scores will be averaged, with a maximum replacement grade of 70%.

Lego League Challenge
Does your child love to build Lego? Do they love to code? Are they in 4th or 5th grade? If you answered yes to all of these questions, then your child may enjoy our after school Lego League Challenge competition team! The team will meet on the following dates: 9/15, 9/23. 9/29, 10/6, 10/14, 10/21, 10/27, 11/5, 11/10, 11/17, and 12/1. The competition will be on 12/6 at Godwin High School (the time is still TBD). Applications open today and will close on Friday 9/12 at 8:00am. The team will be announced Friday 9/12 in the afternoon via ParentSquare. Applications are online through this link. Please contact our Innovative Learning Coach, Farrell Bishop at mfbishop@henrico.k12.va.us with any questions!
