We are thrilled to announce an incredible opportunity for our 5th-grade students! Curtis&Co is partnering with us to bring the READtoRUN program to our school for a third consecutive year! This program is designed to foster a love of reading while emphasizing its importance in our daily lives.
On January 15th, during our House Rally, Mr. Tony Curtis will energize our school community with an inspiring talk about the transformative power of reading. He will share how discovering the right book can ignite a lifelong passion for learning. After the rally, each 5th grader will select two books to read and keep and will also be sized for some swag and a brand-new pair of sneakers.
From January to April, 5th-grade homerooms will embark on an exciting challenge: to read 100 books collectively in order to earn their sneakers and participate in a special event called "The Silent Disco." This breaks down to about 3–4 books per student. To ensure accountability and reflection, students will complete an accountability sheet for each book, thoughtfully answering a question about the story they read.
READtoRUN not only encourages a love of reading but also teaches the importance of hard work, goal setting, and perseverance in achieving success. This program has proven to build a sense of community and pride as students work toward a shared goal while celebrating individual achievements.
We are excited about this journey and encourage you to support your child by helping them discover books they love and celebrating their progress along the way! Together, we can make this a memorable and impactful experience for our 5th graders.
