Greenwood Families,

We are thrilled to announce some exciting recognitions within our Greenwood community!

First, congratulations to our 2024 Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Leslie Wrighter! Mrs. Wrighter is celebrating 27 remarkable years of teaching in Henrico and has been a cornerstone of Greenwood Elementary since its opening in 2004. She teaches with a passion for building relationships and helping students gain confidence, firmly believing that the best classrooms are filled with laughter. We are so fortunate to have her as part of our Greenwood family. Congratulations, Mrs. Wrighter!

Additionally, we are proud to share that Mr. Andrew Cannada has been honored with the Christie Award! As our exceptional education physical therapist, Mr. Cannada is a tireless advocate and supporter of all students. His dedication to helping staff and students develop essential skills, along with his willingness to step in wherever needed, makes a tremendous impact. Greenwood and Henrico County are incredibly lucky to benefit from his unwavering commitment and positivity each day.

Friendsgiving - Room Parent Reminder
Thank you to our Room Parents for coordinating with your child’s teacher by Tuesday of this week to finalize your plans. Many Room Parents have created SignUpGenius links featuring Amazon items for parents to contribute. Teachers are happy to assist by sending your email or text message to the classroom families to help support communication.

This is a collaborative effort to ensure the tables are beautifully decorated, and food is sent in for our Friendsgiving celebration. We don’t want any class to miss out on this celebration. Our goal is to create a meaningful experience where students and parents can come together to share gratitude, foster connections, and strengthen our school community.

Tuesday, November 19: School Play
We are excited to share the first draft of our play with our actors on Tuesday! Everyone who auditioned for a speaking part will have an important role. It is essential that all lines are memorized before winter break so we can focus on refining our acting skills and creating a polished performance. Memorizing lines early helps the entire cast work together seamlessly and ensures our rehearsals are as productive as possible.

Thursday, November 21: Strum & Drum Harvest Jam with 2nd & 5th Grade Performance
We are excited for our first-ever collaborative performance featuring our 2nd and 5th graders at 6 PM at Greenwood Elementary, which will also be one of the final performances by our senior 5th graders! Thank you for supporting the arts at our school.

Friday, November 22: Gator Bash: K & 3rd
Join us for a fun dance party from 7:20 - 7:45 AM in the gym for our K and 3rd graders!

Tuesday, November 26: Cereal Box Drive
We look forward to celebrating our grateful community and crowning the King or Queen who brings in the most canned goods and cereal boxes, and we’ll create a domino effect with the boxes from 7:45 - 8:00 AM.

Tuesday, November 26: Friendsgiving Luncheon
We can’t wait to share a wonderful Friendsgiving Luncheon with our students and families. Thank you Room Parents for coordinating such a fun event!

November 27-29: Schools Closed for Thanksgiving Holiday
Enjoy the Thanksgiving break and have a wonderful holiday
