Thank you for your interest in trying out for our K-5th grade Shimmer and Shine Talent Show!
Our Talent Show will take place on Friday, December 20, at 8:15 AM in the Greenwood Elementary School Gym. This year, we are holding the event in the morning so all students can watch and celebrate the amazing talents of their peers!
Important Date Reminders
Deadline to Sign Up: December 1 at 8:00 AM
Tryouts: December 4, 2024, from 2:00–3:30 PM in the gym
Practice: December 13 from 7:20–8:00 AM in the music room
Dress Rehearsal: December 17 from 2:00–3:30 PM in the gym
Performance: December 20 at 8:15 AM in the gym
Guidelines for Tryouts
When preparing for tryouts on December 4, 2024, please remember the following:
Act Length: Your act must be no longer than 3 minutes.
Music: If your act involves music, include the music link in the Google Form. Singers must use an instrumental version of the song (music only, no lyrics).
Props: Bring any props you need for your act. If your act requires items like a desk or chair, you may use school equipment.
Performance Types: We encourage not just dancers and singers, but also musicians, artists, poets, rollerskaters, and other unique talents!
Participation Expectations
Students must attend all scheduled practices and the dress rehearsal to participate in the show.
Behavior Requirements: Students with 6 or more X’s on their Daily Report cannot try out. Additionally, students with discipline issues during tryouts, practices, or rehearsals will lose the privilege to participate.
This is a competitive event, and not all acts will be selected. Tryouts are an opportunity to showcase your talent and enjoy the experience.
Purpose of the Talent Show
The Shimmer and Shine Talent Show is a celebration of the unique and diverse talents of our K-5 students. It’s an opportunity for students to build confidence, express themselves creatively, and inspire their peers. Hosting the performance in the morning allows all students to attend, fostering a supportive and inclusive school community.
