Parent Book Club Kickoff

Thursday, September 26: PTA Spirit Night
Join us September 26th, between 4:30pm-7:30pm, for a delicious night out at Raising Cane’s chicken (10093 Brook Rd, Glen Allen, VA 23059) while supporting Greenwood Elementary!

Friday, September 27: Math Award Ceremony
We look forward to recognizing our K-5th grade students who have earned the Math Award for demonstrating a love for mathematics. Students who earned this award should arrive at the gym with their parent between 7:15 and 7:20 AM. Please note that student winners should not take the bus to school, as this is a parent event. Following the ceremony, parents will join their child in the classroom for a house chant, which is an important part of the program. Thanks to our Greenwood Cheerleaders for reporting to the gym between 7:15 and 7:20 AM to cheer on these incredible students!  Click here to join the virtual meeting.

Friday, September 27: Home Connection Glow Report (Important & Due on Monday, September 30)
Our school firmly believes in the importance of goal setting, and one of our key initiatives is the Home Connection Glow Report. All K-5th grade students will complete this report from 7:50 to 8:00 AM with Mr. Stein as part of their morning meeting, where they will rate their “flame” in different areas of the school day. There is also an essential parent component that must be completed and returned by Monday, September 30. We have very high academic goals this school year, and your partnership is crucial to achieving them. Thank you for sharing your glows with your student! This process develops confidence, strengthens communication between school and home, and encourages self-reflection in students.

Wednesday, October 2: Custodian Appreciation Day
We are inviting all students to create personalized thank-you cards or drawings to show appreciation for our amazing custodial staff. Students can write messages of gratitude and decorate their cards with colorful artwork. At 1:55 PM, we will have a special parade throughout the school to present these heartfelt creations to our custodians before dismissal. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to recognize and celebrate the hard work that keeps our school clean, safe, and welcoming every day!

Thursday, October 3: Student and teacher holiday – Jewish High Holiday

Friday, October 4 Character Trait Ceremony (Accountable) & Parent Parade
We are excited to celebrate the students that have earned the Character Trait Award for displaying the value of being Accountable. More details will be coming home soon for these selected students!

Friday, October 4: Spilling the Tea with Mr. Stein
Join Mr. Stein to catch up on school updates and share your insight. This is your chance to connect with school leadership and stay informed about what's happening at Greenwood. This week's topics include gifted services at Greenwood and upcoming academic and sports competitions. All questions submitted ahead of time will be answered during the conversation.
